I have recently explained how we can create morphs for DAZ Studio assets with external applications, and how to apply them to characters and clothing using Morph Loader, or something like the GoZ Plugin. You can watch those videos here and here.One of my viewers was asking – quite rightly – what to do with the applied morph, and how to save it. The answer to that question is a little in-depth, and depends on what you’d like to do with said morph. I thought I’d expand on the answer I gave Scott in one of the above videos with this article.1.) Saving your whole sceneThe first option to preserve a morph is to simply save your scene. This is done by heading over to File – Save As… This will create a .DUF file, referencing all objects and their configurations in your scene. Note that you can only load this file on the same system that has saved it to make all the content appear in the correct places, unless the second system you’re loading this file on has the same referenced content installed. If that’s not the case, and the content is from DAZ3D, you’ll be prompted to install the content at this point. If DAZ Studio can’t find your content, it’ll display grey boxes instead of your objects (which can look a tad scary).For your own work, saving your full scene is a good approach, but not so much if you intend to re-distribute the morph, or if you want use your morph in other scenes you’re creating. Lucky for us, we have two more options.2.) Saving your morph as a Morph AssetTo save the morph independently from any objects that make up your scene, head over to File – Save As – Support Asset – Morph Asset. This will bring up a dialogue box that lets you choose what you’d like to save and to which library. Select your morph (and only your morph) to save it. Make sure it’s titled properly and added to the hierarchy position of your liking at this point, including any limits or other customisations. You can tweak those by putting your Properties Tab into Edit Mode and making the appropriate adjustments.For example, rather than putting your morph into a root folder named “Morph” or “ZBrush”, create your own, or simply choose a better position. Morphing your creature face-up isn't an activated ability. What counts as an activated ability? Activated abilities are those that you pay some cost to make the effect happen (whether that be tapping it, paying mana, sacrificing a creature, wwhatever. These don't just happen on their own; some has to decide to make it happen. Is Morph considered a colorless spell? Yes, it's colorless: 708.4: Objects that are cast face down are turned face down before they are put onto the stack, so effects that care about the characteristics of a spell will see only the face-down spell's characteristics. Do morph creatures have no abilities? While that card is “morphed,” it will be a colorless 2/2 creature with no creature types or abilities. However, any time you have priority, you can pay the face-down card's morph cost and turn it face-up. What is the difference between morph and manifest? Morph only appears on permanents, but any card with morph can be turned faceup, whereas only manifested creatures can be turned faceup. Facedown morph creatures are also cast, whereas facedown manifested creatures are normally put directly into play by another effect. 2025-04-12The Sample that was triggered when you pressed the key.Creating an Articulation MorphSetting up a simple velocity morph as described above is easy enough. There are times, though, when you need a more flexible way of configuring the morph filter. For example, you might want to set up a dynamically playable morph between two different, but musically related articulations of the same sound source, such as a choir singing “ahh” and “ooh”. This requires some more manual intervention. The procedure can be broken down into the following steps:Create one Morph Layer for each of the Groups that the articulations are assigned to,Combine two or more of these layers into a Morph Map, andLoad this map into an AET Filter module that you place in the Group Insert FX chain of the Group that should be processed.In our example, we assume that the “ahh” and the “ooh” Zones are neatly split up into two different Groups, as would be the natural structure of a Kontakt patch. In a first step, select all Zones from the “ahh” Group (using the Selected Groups only function if needed), then choose Create AET morph layer from the Edit menu. A dialog window with a few options will appear.Enter a descriptive name for your layer (such as “ahh”) and make sure that both the Tonal option is activated and the Smoothing parameter is set to its default value of 0.5, then click OK. Kontakt will now generate spectral fingerprints of all Zones and save them in a new Morph Layer. Once it has finished, repeat the process with the Zones in the other group. You have now created two new Morph Layers that contain spectral information which will be used in the resulting morph.In order to tell Kontakt which morph layers you’d like to use in your morph, you’ll have to create a new Morph Map and add those layers to it.To add a new Morph Map:Open the AET Morph Map Editor from the Edit menu; a dialog window with an input line on top will appear. Combine your Morph Layers into Morph Maps with the AET Morph Map Editor.Enter a descriptive name here (such as “ahh -> ooh morph”) and click the Add: button. The Morph Layers you just prepared will now turn up in the right one of two lists at the bottom of the dialog, meaning that they’re available for inclusion in your new Morph Map. Select them one-by-one in the right list and move them into your map by clicking the left arrow button. This article describes advanced things you can do with Morph. To learn the basics of applying the Morph transition, be sure to read Using the Morph transition in PowerPoint. Take control over which objects morph Morph now gives you more control over which objects do and don't morph. Our custom naming scheme lets you match two objects on successive slides and force one to morph into the other. The naming scheme is simply to begin an object name with !! (two exclamation points) and to assign the same custom name to the two objects. Use the Selection pane, as described in the next section, to change an object's name. For example, you can put a circle named !!Shape1 on Slide 7 and a square named !!Shape1 on Slide 8. Then, by assigning a Morph transition to Slide 8, the circle will morph into the square in the transition from one slide to the next. To rename objects by using the Selection Pane (On Windows) On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click Select > Selection Pane. (On macOS) On the Home tab, in the Arrange group, click Selection Pane. Click a name in the list to select the object. Click it a second time to make the name editable. The Selection Pane opens on the right side. It shows a list of all the objects on the current slide. Most default names consist of a descriptive word and a numeral, such as Title 1. Press Ctrl+A to select the entire name. Type !! followed by whatever else you want to include in the name, such as !!ShapeForMorph. Press Enter to preserve the new name you've typed. What you can do with this feature Force different shapes (such as a circle and a square) to morph. Force two instances of the same shape—but with different text in each— to morph. Force two images to morph. Force any two objects of the same type to morph (table/table, SmartArt/SmartArt). One exception is charts: they don't morph, they cross-fade. Continue to use object names that don't start with !! and know that it won't change the way Morph treats them.
